Here we go!
Tomorrow, September 18th 2013 has been 5+ years in the making.
In March of 2008 I was accepted into graduate school to pursue my M Ed. in school counseling. I began my first class that following June. In June of 2011 I graduated with honors. And then nothing. No job. It was a frustrating time in the economy and the jobs that were opening up were garnering tough competition.
In 2012 I decided to stop applying for positions. It became too hard to continually face rejection, or even worse - hear nothing.
Earlier this year, I realized that I was plugging away at a job that I wasn't passionate about. It was not filling me up. I decided (with the help and encouragement of my husbuddy) to start searching for counseling jobs again. During the past 6 months, I have probably applied to 30-40 jobs and have been invited to interview 4 times. It was daunting to now be two years out of grad school and have no paid experience. My husband, the encourager that he is, helped me prepare a "rally the troops" speech in order to address my weaknesses in my interview.
And then it happened. I was offered a .6 Middle School Position. In so many ways this position is perfect for where I am at in life right now. And tomorrow - tomorrow is day #1!
I will be using this blog to process this new adventure, as well as keep it a resource hub as I find new ideas.
